Redd Sage Farms is a non-profit medicinal and aromatic plant farm (MAP).
Our 22 acre MAP campus located in Pembroke Township, IL services Los Angeles and Kankakee counties. Managed by a team of experts and an onsite manager, it's home to towering black oak savannas, fireflies, woodpeckers, robins, blue jays, and deer.
The project aims to establish a thriving habitat that complements and bolsters the existing community conservation initiatives dedicated to preserving the indigenous flora and fauna. This endeavor involves meticulous planning, planting, and nurturing of specific plant species that strengthen the ecosystem as a whole.
Nicor Gas has branded Redd Sage Farms an environmental steward and for the second year has awarded RSF a grant to support its pollinator project initiative. Our motto: "Give a person a meal, feed them for a day; give a person a seed, feed them for a lifetime!"
Redd Sage Farms (RSF) is a non-profit organization, consisting of a team of certified permaculturists, holistic doctors, and volunteers whom have years of experience teaching and promoting holistic approaches to food production. Our team is committed to and passionate about; teaching and helping families plant, grow and sustain healthy food.
In an effort to help families of food desert communities build sustainable food sources; our team regularly participate in community events (such as farmers markets and swap meets) to promote permaculture and give away seeds and seedlings to families who reside in these areas.
Empowering communities by helping them realize that planting a small eco-friendly garden, not only leads to a healthier lifestyle; but also leads to self-reliance, freedom, and abundance -- which can be shared with others.

Over the years, several of our team members developed severe food allergies/intolerances and became seriously ill. This prompted us to begin looking into the cause of these illnesses and changing the way we eat. We began consuming organic food purchased from local farmers markets, and immediately noticed a remarkable improvement in our health. After talking to local farmers and others who were facing similar challenges; we discovered that the most nutrient-dense, organic, and tastiest fruits, vegetables, and herbs were ones we could actually grow ourselves, in our own backyard or indoors.
Encouraged by these findings and desiring to learn more, several members of our team enrolled in a permaculture certification program taught by Atitlan Organics; traveled to Lake Atitlan, Guatemala and spent the summer learning how to affordably and ecologically plant and grow healthy food.
Understanding the value of having access to clean and affordable food; RSF thereafter, became passionate about and committed to:
1.) providing seeds and seedlings to communities in need,
2.) caring for and protecting the environment,
3.) sharing information about permaculture, and
4.) sharing information on how to produce affordable, healthy, ecological and sustainable "grow it yourself food" in small spaces.
Your planting today, ensures our abundant tomorrow.

Our mission is to help bring food security to families in food desert communities by providing them with seed and seedlings; teaching them small-space permaculture and backyard and indoor gardening solutions; and by helping them grow affordable, consumable and sustainable nutrient-rich food.
Permaculture ethics are based upon three guiding principles:
1.) care for the earth,
2.) care for people, and
3.) reinvestment of surplus.
It is designed and implemented to be sustainable while also meeting the three guiding principles; because in the process it mimics natural ecosystems in its approaches to material and waste management through the application of common sense and functional design.
Inside every seed is a plant; waiting to be sowed, ready to grow, willing to produce a bounty, and able to generate more seeds.
